PEGAZUS Announce New Drummer
May 21, 2004Australia's PEGAZUS have announced the addition of drummer Ange "Vuggs" Sotiro to the group's ranks. "Ange actually filled in on drums very last minute (3 hours before the show!) at the band's previous live gigs at the HeadBanger's Ball 3 in late January," the band explain in a statement. "He did such a great job at these 2 gigs that the whole band was unanimously in favour of deciding to offer him the unconfirmed position on drums…it actually seemed destined to be in some weird but uncanny way. Ange also plays drums in local Melbourne rock/metal band RAPTOR…these guys rock!
"We would also like to truly thank previous fill in drummer Bernie Goldstein who did a great job filling in on drums until we found out Robbie's recent decision on his playing future in PEGAZUS.
"As for Bernie, great news is that we hear that he has now got the permanent drum gig in original PEGAZUS vocalist Justin Fleming's new metal band TREPHINED, so look out for some great metal from these guys sometime this year.
"However, we are still in the process of auditioning a new bass player, so we can't confirm anything with this position just yet. Possibly within the next few weeks, we hope to have the full band line up confirmed with a whole bunch of new current band photos and member profiles.
"At this moment, we have also been in touch with a few new record labels of late and the response so far has been of great interest, so we can't wait to get some new songs/demo’s recorded soon to properly start shopping for a possible new deal.
"The rough versions of new songs have only been played within the bands very tight circle and the general feedback is pretty awesome. We are hard at work on it and very excited at the same time to get something out there for all you PEGAZUS Warriors to crank up 'LOUD & PROUD'…as soon as possible!
"At this stage, we plan to record the new demos hopefully around July with the possibility of entering the studios to record the new studio album during September / October? As for the band's first ever and forthcoming 'Live! Thunder Down Under' DVD, this is still in the works too but it is taking longer than we originally thought due to, too many other things happening all at once.
"Right now, we are still checking all the footage for a final edit which we plan to start and finish within the next 6 to 8 weeks. Then we will have to decide on who and how it will be released?
"We will keep you informed on this as soon as we have a much better and clearer idea.
"It's amazing at how well the recent 'Pegazus - Live! Thunder Down Under' album has been received globally. I guess the general comment and praise is for how truly Raw and LIVE this album/performance really is. Well, what can we say, we did want to offer a truly live show and not the typical live in the studio effort which seems to be so normal and standard practice these days. So, thanx again to everyone for their true support and praise on this.
"Very recently, we were offered to play a very prestigious heavy metal festival in the USA which we were very thankful for but we really thought about it and decided that the best thing for the band and fans, would be to pass on the offer and do an actual PEGAZUS tour.
"So no, we aren’t going out on a tour just yet (even though there has been some great recent offers in Europe too),but we definitely do plan on doing our very own tour in early 2005, right after the next PEGAZUS studio album is officially released. We honestly couldn't care less if we end up playing the smallest, dirtiest rock/metal clubs around, wherever that may be, whether that be in Europe, Japan, Brazil or the USA?
"One thing's for sure, with or without record label support, we are definitely planning on being there no matter what!"
